On my death bed...

I'll have you know that I have a good excuse for not writing Wed or Thurs. S-T-R-E-P T-H-R-O-A-T !!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't had strep in years (and yes, I do realized that by saying that, it automatically makes me old). So here's what I have to say about it, and I'm sorry if there are children reading this but it SUCKS! Monday night I started feeling kind of "off." Tuesday morning my throat started to hurt and I started to get tired pretty easily. Tuesday night was filled with tossing and turning because I was freezing under 4 blankets and then hot. Hello, Fever. Wednesday morning, my glands were so swollen I could see them in the mirror. It hurt to talk and I was having difficulty swallowing. I also didn't want to get out of bed. Not so easy for those of us that have small children at home, but I somehow managed. My children seemed to sense that I was on my death bed and acted (for the most part) like angels. Wednesday night wasn't quite as hellish as Tues but still sleep was not exactly fitful. Thursday morning I got up hoping to make it thru the day when my husband volunteered to take the day off so I could go to the doctor and get some sleep. I know, he Rocks! I did go to the dr. Imagine my surprise (note: sarcasm) when she told me my strep test was positive. Antibiotics followed shortly, and now I type before you with only minimal swollen-ness and minor sore throat. Energy level is close to back to normal...but not enough to go to the gym (convenient :) )

My husband also pampered me by making the BEST smoothies ever! My fav is the berry lime sublime from Jamba so he attempted (and surpassed, I might add) to copy these flavors. AWESOME! I swear it aided in my recovery! So sweet. And no, you cannot borrow him the next time you get sick...He looks way too hot in scrubs.

So to those of you who watched my Blog for the daily post (all 1 of you...thanks mom), my apologies. My death bed doesn't have a laptop with wireless internet.

To any readers who are experiencing the dreaded strep throat, my deepest sympathies and empathies (I never remember which is better.)

Service

I'm so tired, but I remembered that I hadn't posted yet today. Day 4 and still going strong. Aren't you guys proud of me?

Jas and I had to speak on Sunday in his parents ward on Good Works. I spoke on Service specifically and ended my talk with this quote from Sis Marjorie Hinckley that I absolutely LOVE!

“I don’t want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with grass stains on my shoes from mowing Sister Schenk’s lawn. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbor’s children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone’s garden. I want to be there with children’s sticky kisses on my cheeks and tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived.”

Happy Chinese New Year

DAY 3 (I'm not counting weekends): Happy New Year (Chinese) that is!

Lauren is into...no, obsessed with China and all things Chinese. So, for FHE tonight we are all celebrating the Chinese New Year. Go year of the OX!

We are having Orange Stir fried chicken with rice. We will be eating with chopsticks. Fortune Cookies will be involved. We are also figuring out what our Chinese Zodiac sign is, what that means, and how to write our name in Chinese.

I'll try to post some pics tomorrow and let ya'll know how it went.

I'm on a ROLL!

Oh yeah! Day 2 and I'm going strong!

My son LOVES the Imagination Movers on Disney. Hey, what can I say, I don't mind them much either. They come on every morning right @ 8 am. Perfect for CJ since that's when the girls catch the bus. Their "theme song" is fun, upbeat and Carter loves to dance around and sing to it. Only him though. A few times I've tried to join in but Carter responds by saying, "No Mama. I do it mythelf!" Apparently kids learn to be embarassed by their parents at an early age. :) If you have kids between the ages of 2-5 you should check it out. It's a favorite in this household. We even have a few episodes DVRed for backup!

Why I have you fellow blogger geniuses "on the line" so to speak. Could someone help a girl out and tell me how to change my background for my blog? I am apparently blogologically challenged and can't figure out how to change it up. I figure if I'm going to keep up my blog a day policy, I need to make it more interesting. HelP?!...

Bad @ Bloggin.

I'm horrible at this lately. All of you are so good at sharing what your kids say and what you've been doing. You go GiRLs! I'm just bad at taking the time to share what's going on and what my kids are up to.

My own Blog Inauguration:

I, Erin, will try to do a better job at blogging this year. I will do my best to keep my friends and family up to date on the Cannon family goings-on. I will try to take and post more pictures. I know that I have a responsibility and will do my best to uphold it.

There. Let's all hope my oath works.

DAY 1 (of the new blogging administration): I had a few of my Young Women from my old ward come over for lunch today. It's convenient since I live across the street from their high school. We had some good food and good laughs. I was the camp director 2 years ago and then the 1st Counselor over the Miamaids for 6 months before the ward boundaries changed and put me into a different ward. SAD PANDA!

This Cannon family is exploring their options as to a bigger house possibly with a backyard. We live on an acre now but have not the time, money, or desire to finish putting in the backyard. When we moved in, we had NO yard whatsoever. The old man who lived here had a gravel "circle" driveway that went around the back of the house. The front was full of weeds. We raked and shoveled and planted until we had a decent front yard. The back yard was full of dead pine trees we had to chop down. We have since planted new trees but the lawn is nonexistent. SOOOO...Wow. No wonders I don't blog, I get off topic. We are thinking about selling, moving, etc... in the next ummmm....who knows how long. I mean, let's be real, the real estate market is CRAZY right now. But anyway, we are sure something will happen for us eventually.

Last night was LOST....Hollah if you are a Lost fan. Thoughts about the season premiere? What the heck? How did Locke get off the Island? Is Kate really gonna take Aaron back? Ok... and Hurley? Also whose the older lady that Ben was talking to at the church? Haven't we seen her in a different episode somewhere?

Whooo.....That wasn't so painful. Hopefully Day 2 will be just as easy. Stay Tuned.

Back to School

Holidays are crazy! Filled with people you love and some you don't, Filled with lots of food and antacids, stress and heightened emotions, and memories-good and bad. I enjoyed them but am glad they are over.

For anyone whoever reads this, I did get my projects done. I was so crazy to finish them the week of Christmas that i didn't get pictures of them. The aprons I made for my inlaws turned out cute. The car playmats I made for my nephews were a lot of work but so Awesome upon completion. I made rice bags for all my brothers and bro-in-laws. Fun!

My family got sick during the holidays. Daughter #2 was sick christmas morning. She passed it to me Christmas afternoon. Husband was sick Sunday after Christmas. Parents, Brothers, everyone else related was sick through Monday after Christmas. LOVELY, but what can ya do? Enjoy each other anyway. :)

Due to the sickness, few pictures were taken, but memories abound. Here are a few. Daughter #1 is obsessed with Asian culture so her favorite gift this year was the kimono and accessories. I dont know if she'll ever take it off.
